Simplifying Systems and Strengthening School Operations
Operational Systems Support for Schools
I help schools implement and improve their School Management Systems (SIS/LMS). While I support schools working with a range of platforms, my primary area of expertise is the Blackbaud Education Management suite.
My work includes hands-on configuration, system cleanup, troubleshooting, and long-term planning.
I identify inefficiencies, improve data integrity, and streamline workflows so your systems support daily operations effectively.
My Approach
A Clear, Practical, and Sustainable Process
My process is built around simplifying what’s complicated and helping teams understand how their systems should actually function. I provide the hands-on, practical support schools often need beyond standard implementation services. I focus on clean configuration, accurate data, clear workflows, and practical documentation.
I collaborate closely with your staff, communicate openly about what’s working and what isn’t, and develop resilient processes that don’t rely on any one person as your team evolves.
Why Schools Choose EdMD
Experience That Sees the Whole System
Schools choose EdMD because the work goes beyond implementation to focus on how systems perform in real, day-to-day use.
Rather than applying a standard setup, I assess how your tools align with your workflows and identify where inefficiencies, redundancies, or data issues are creating friction. From there, I provide targeted, hands-on support to improve configuration, strengthen data integrity, and streamline processes across enrollment, student information, billing, and related systems.
My work is grounded in real operational experience, which allows me to identify not just what is wrong, but why it is happening and how to fix it in a sustainable way. The goal is not just short-term improvement, but long-term system health.
Every engagement is designed to leave your team with clearer workflows, stronger internal processes, and the ability to manage your systems with confidence moving forward.

Meet the Founder
Matthew Drown
Founder & CEO
My work supporting schools began over two decades ago, volunteering in classrooms while completing my teaching credentials. Early roles coaching youth soccer and swim lessons, and managing summer camps, taught me the value of family and community engagement in strengthening the student experience.
After six years in the classroom, I moved into software consulting with a focus on Student Information Systems and Learning Management Systems. Nearly a decade in the corporate world sharpened my technical and project-management skills, and ultimately inspired me to launch my own consulting practice so I could deliver more flexible, school-centered solutions.
Today, I partner with private and independent schools at all stages of their EdTech lifecycle. I provide tailored services including data cleanup and migration, faculty training, workflow optimization, and change management — always with an emphasis on clarity, usability, and sustaining long-term benefits for students and staff.
Outside of work, I love to travel and spend time with my partner, our two goldendoodles, a horse, and a lively flock of chickens. I live on a small farm in central NC where I have been for 15 years, after growing up and starting my career in Southern Maine.
“Working with Matthew has been a game-changer. He deeply understands the backend of Blackbaud and can take even the vaguest issue, clarify it better than I can articulate, and then fix it — usually within hours. He’s saved our team countless hours (and sometimes days) of troubleshooting.
What stands out most is his ability to bridge technical expertise with clear communication; he doesn’t just solve the problem, he helps you understand it. Matthew is dependable, easy to work with, and an absolute expert. I’d recommend him to any school looking for a consultant who can make complex systems work the way they’re supposed to.”
